School is just around the corner, or has already started up for many colleges and universities. As students head off to college, there is a huge list of essentials they need to cover to make sure their transition from home-life to dorm-life goes well. Essentials like bedding, tuition, choice of roommate, meal cards, class schedule, and laptop are all things students often think of. However, an often overlooked subject is the bathroom.
The bathroom in a college dorm is usually a space shared by lots of people. If you live in a dorm with community bathrooms, you will not have any personal space in the bathroom and you won’t be able to leave anything there long term. You’ll be forced to carry your towel, toothbrush, soap, shampoo, and possibly even flip flops if the floor is gross with you every time you visit the bathroom. In order to make this an easy transition, having a great dorm or college shower caddy is necessary.
You should look for a shower caddy that is portable, like a bag or a tote. It’s helpful if these also have holes to help them drain in case you need to store wet bottles of soap or shampoo in them. Caddies that have a handle will make them easier to carry, and the handle may be hung over the shower door, a hook, or some other place to keep it off the floor. Great caddies also have pockets to help organize everything so you can find and grab it quick. Too big of a shower caddy will just take up precious storage space in your room, but too small of a caddy will mean you have to carry things in your hands outside of your caddy, and can make trips more difficult, or you could even drop items on an unclean bathroom floor.
Fortunately, there are lots of great caddy options to choose from. Mesh or cloth won’t rust, will dry quickly, and often offer pockets for organization. They are affordable, and will help you get the most out of your college experience with little cost or hassle.
